Website Development Cost in Pakistan: What Decides the Price
By the AlimcoSoft team, Islamabad
Website prices in Pakistan vary enormously, and both the low and the high quotes can be fair, because they are often not for the same product. A template set up in a day and a custom web application share the word website and little else.
We have not published a price list, because any fixed number would be a guess without your requirements. This guide explains what moves the price, so you know what you are paying for.
The type of website
This decides more than anything else. From least work to most, the common types are:
- A one-page site or landing page
- A company website with a few pages
- A content site with a CMS and a blog
- An online store
- A portal with user accounts
- A custom web application
Template or custom design
A template is quicker and cheaper, and it is fine for a small business that needs to be online. A custom design costs more, and it is worth it when the website has to win customers against strong competitors.
WordPress, Shopify or custom code
WordPress suits content-led sites, and Shopify suits many online stores, though Shopify has a monthly fee. Custom code with a framework such as Next.js costs more to build but gives you more speed and control, which matters for web apps and larger sites.
Ask what each option will cost you in year three, not only at launch. Plugins, themes and monthly fees all add up.
E-commerce features
An online store needs far more than product pages. Each of these adds work:
- Payments through JazzCash, Easypaisa or card gateways
- Cash on delivery and courier integration
- Stock management
- Discount codes
- Customer accounts and order history
Content, images and SEO
Someone has to write the words and supply the photos. If the developer does this, it should be in the quote. SEO setup is another common gap: a website nobody can find on Google does little for your business, so ask exactly what is included.
Costs after launch
A website has yearly costs too: the domain, hosting, security updates and backups. Ask who pays for each one and who does the work. Make sure the domain and hosting are in your own name.
How to compare quotes
Write down the pages and features you need, and send the same list to every company. Ask each one to say what is included: design, content, SEO, mobile testing, hosting and support after launch. Then you can compare like with like.
