Domain Price in Pakistan: What .com and .pk Really Cost
By the AlimcoSoft team, Islamabad
A domain looks cheap until the second year. The price in the advert is often a first-year offer, and the renewal can cost several times more. This guide gives real prices so you can budget for the years after the first.
We read these prices on 2 November 2026. They are examples from public pricing pages, not recommendations, and they change often, so check the checkout page before you pay.
.pk domain price
PKNIC runs the .pk domain registry. It charges Rs. 2,100 per year to registrants in Pakistan and $15.99 per year to those outside it. The fee is charged for two years at a time, and you can pay for up to ten years.
PKNIC's homepage says the Pakistan fee rose by Rs. 300, from Rs. 1,800, on 1 August 2026, so older articles quote a lower figure. Sellers add their own margin: WebSouls lists .pk and .com.pk at Rs. 4,299 for two years.
.com domain price in Pakistan
Prices vary widely between sellers. Two examples, both shown in Pakistani rupees:
- Hostinger: Rs. 499 for the first year, with Rs. 4,399 shown as the regular price
- WebSouls: Rs. 2,999 per year on offer, down from Rs. 3,999
Why renewal price matters more than the first year
A domain is something you keep for years, so judge it on the cost over time. Using the figures above, a .com at a low first-year price followed by a regular price is a very different bill from a flat yearly price.
Before you buy, check the renewal price at checkout, whether privacy protection costs extra, and whether a website, hosting or email plan has to be bought with it.
.com, .pk or .com.pk?
The choice depends on who your customers are:
- .com: a good default, especially if you sell outside Pakistan
- .pk: short and clearly Pakistani, for a business that sells locally
- .com.pk: PKNIC lists it for general business and individuals
- .org.pk: for non-profit organisations
- .edu.pk and .gov.pk: for educational institutes and the Government of Pakistan, with separate requirements
Rules for .pk names
PKNIC sets a few limits worth knowing:
- A name can be up to 63 characters
- It cannot begin or end with a dash, or contain two dashes in a row
- A name directly under .pk must have at least four characters
Domain, hosting and website are three different costs
A domain is only your address. Hosting is where your website runs, and the website itself has to be designed and built. Some sellers bundle these, which can hide what each part costs.
Register the domain in your own name or your company's name, even if a developer is doing the work for you. If a developer's account holds your domain, you may struggle to move it when you change teams.
